The team at Wold Top Brewery are celebrating after winning a silver medal at the 15th annual Free From Food Awards

Scarborough Fair IPA was one of just two silver medal winners in the Gluten-Free category of the awards that attracted over 500 entries in a range of classes. Judges described the English style triple hopped IPA as: “A lovely, light-coloured IPA that’s well balanced and delivers throughout. It has a gentle, green and piney hop aroma, and a soft, lingering bitterness.” Wold Top‘s Marmalade Porter was also a finalist in the same category.

Director, Kate Balchin said: “We have extended our range of free from gluten and low alcohol beer over the last few years to reflect the changes in our customers’ drinking habits. A validation from the UK’s only industry awards for free from food and drink is great news and testament to the team’s hard work.

Wold Top was founded in 2003 and is located on the Mellor family farm at Hunmanby Grange near Filey. The team use home grown barley and water from the farm’s borehole to produce a range of award-winning cask, keg and bottled beers that are available throughout Yorkshire and nationwide.

The Free From Food Awards were launched in 2008 by allergy website, FoodsMatter to encourage innovation and celebrate excellence in the free from food and drink industry. The awards are entirely independent, supported by sponsorship and entry fees only.
